symptom
Why does the Changes To System Values report show changes to QIPLDATTIM and QTIMZON if no actual changes occurred?

symptom
My Changes To System Values report is showing changes that didn't happen.

symptom
The New Value is the same as the Old Value for system value QIPLDATTIM.

symptom
The New Value is the same as the Old Value for system value QTIMZON.

cause
The system startup program specified in system value QSTRUPPGM includes the Start Cleanup (STRCLNUP) command and command CHGCLNUP specifies *YES for 'Allow cleanup' (ALWCLNUP).

cause
Operating System IPL occurred.

fix

System job QSYSSCD (Automatic Power Scheduler) uses the CHGSYSVAL command or an equivalent API to set system value QIPLDATTIM to the same value it already has. Similarly, system job SCPF (System Control Program Facility) sets system value QTIMZON to the same value it already has during IPL ("boot up").

The Changes To System Values report includes the QAUDJRN receiver entries for journal code T, journal entry type SV, for the specified date range within constraints imposed by the report filter criteria, if any.

Contact IBM if these seemingly unwarranted changes to system values cause concern.
