Does Directory and Resource Administrator support pre-Windows 2000 group names longer than 20 characters?
goal
Can I modify the allowed pre-Windows 2000 group name length in the $GroupNameLengthPolicy?
fact
Directory and Resource Administrator 7.x
fix
Directory and Resource Administrator (DRA) uses a default Group Name Length limit of 20 characters for supported Windows versions earlier than Windows 2000. DRA enforces this limit for compatibility with Windows NT 4.0-based tools, such as User Manager, which do not accept group names longer than 20 characters.
If you do not manage Windows NT 4.0 domains or use Windows NT 4.0-based tools, you can increase the length of pre-Windows 2000 group names.
Note: Other applications and processes in your environment that access group names may not support pre-Windows 2000 group names exceeding 20 characters.
To allow the use of pre-Windows 2000 group names longer than 20 characters, disable the $GroupNameLengthPolicy or modify the value of the $GroupNameLengthPolicy settings for pre-Windows 2000 group name length.
