fix

Whether the QINACTITV system value or ISM ends the job is highly dependent on the ISM check gap option. The ISM check gap option is located on the Display/Change System Parameters screen. To access the Display/Change System Parameters screen, from PSMENU, select options 2, 5, and 6.

The ISM check gap represents the interval in seconds where ISM checks whether a job has exceeded its inactivity threshold defined in ISM. When the ISM check gap is set high enough, system value QINACTITV takes over.

In testing, jobs ended according to the ISM check gap as follows:

  • ISM check gap of 90 seconds: Job ended by ISM.
  • ISM check gap of 105 seconds: Job ended by ISM.
  • ISM check gap of 150 seconds: Job ended by ISM.
  • ISM check gap of 170 seconds: Job ended by ISM.
  • ISM check gap of 180 seconds: Job ended by QINACTITV.
  • ISM check gap of 200 seconds: Job ended by QINACTITV.
  • ISM check gap of 300 seconds: Job ended by QINACTITV.

note
NetIQ suggests you use either QINACTITV or ISM, not both.
