Error: 'NetIQ Security Manager 5.10 Setup has detected that one or both of the following selected folders do not exist. Without this information setup cannot continue. Would you like to create the folders now?'

symptom
Error reports database folders do not exist, but they do exist.

symptom
Error: 'NetIQ Security Manager 5.10 Setup was unable to create one or more of the following paths. Setup cannot progress without a valid database installation path.'

cause
Transactions from the Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (DTC) may fail when SQL Server runs in lightweight pooling mode.

fix

Disable lightweight pooling, also called Windows NT fibers, on the SQL Server instance.

note
Microsoft strongly recommends that you run the SQL Server instance in thread mode on any server running DTC. For more information, see the Microsoft Knowledge Base article # 303287 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;303287&sd=tech.
