When using the GPO Comparison Wizard, the SQL Server field accepts only 20 characters.

symptom

To compare a GPO in the GP Repository with another GPO using the the GPO Comparizon Wizard, you must specify the name of the SQL Server computer that is hosting the GP Repository. However, you cannot specify a SQL Server computer name that has more than 20 characters.



symptom
If the name of the SQL Server entered in the GPO Comparison Wizard is more than 20 characters (including the dots) then the login fails because the server name is not recognized.

cause
The SQL Server field within the GPO Comparison Wizard wizard is limited to 20 characters in length.

fix
This issue is resolved with the release of version 5.0 of Group Policy Adminsitrator. Please upgrade to version 5.0 or later.
