Resolution

goal

What is the default email alias used when 'Alias name generation for user accounts' is set to 'None?'

goal
What is the default email alias used when a mailbox is created?

fact
Directory and Resource Administrator 7.x

fix

In Directory and Resource Administrator (DRA), when the value of Alias name generation for user accounts is set to None, DRA uses the samAccountName or Pre-Windows 2000 logon name of the mailbox owner as the email alias.  Alias name generation for user accounts is located under Exchange policies > Auto naming.

note

For information about how DRA prevents duplicate SMTP addresses in an organization, see NETIQKB50166, What is the default behavior of DRA/EXA when a mailbox is created with an email alias that already exists in the Organization?
