Resolution

fact
Exchange Migrator 2.x

symptom
Exchange Migrator will not merge on disabled Active Directory Connector created user accounts.

symptom
Exchange Migrator creates accounts appended with the number one (1) in the Users container of the target domain.

symptom
Exchange Migrator will not migrate mailboxes to Active Directory Connector created user accounts.

cause

When ADC runs, it will either stamp an existing account in the target domain, or create a new one. In both scenarios, ADC should populate the msExchADCGlobalNames attribute of the Exchange 5.5 mailbox and the newly created disabled user account to map the Exchange 5.5 mailbox and the Active Directory Connector created user account. The EX5 and the NT5 properties of the msExchADCGlobalNames attribute in the Exchange 5.5 mailbox must match the ADC created or stamped account.

If Exchange Migrator cannot find the EX5 and NT5 properties of the msExchADCGlobalNames attribute, Exchange Migrator will create a new "1" appended account in the default Users container of the domain the target Exchange server is located in.

fix

To verify the existence of the msExchADCGlobalNames attribute:

  1. On the Operating System CD, launch ..\Support\Tools\SupTools.msi to install the support tools.
  2. Click Start > Run.
  3. Enter LDP.exe.
  4. Click ConnectionConnect.
  5. Select the name of the Source Exchange 5.5 server.
  6. Click ConnectionBind.
  7. Enter administrative-level credentials.
  8. Click View> Tree.
  9. Leave the BaseDN: field blank and click OK.
  10. Expand the Exchange 5.5 Organization name > Exchange 5.5 Site name > Recipients Container.
  11. Right-click the applicable mailbox and select Properties.
  12. Find the msExchADCGlobalNames attribute and verify the LDAP path to the object in AD.

If the EX5 and the NT5 properties of this attribute do not exactly match, verify the Active Directory Connection Agreements are setup properly.
