fix

Group Policy Administrator (GPA) has three main components: Console, Repository, and Server.  You only need to back up the repository.  If you need to restore the other components, just install them. They do not contain any configuration or environment-specific configuration settings.

To backup the repository:

  1. Open SQL Enterprise Manager on the computer where the repository resides.
  2. Expand Databases.
  3. Select GPO_Repository.
  4. From the Action menu, click All Tasks > Backup Database...
  5. Back up the GPO_Repository to a file.

To restore the repository:

  1. Open SQL Enterprise Manager on the computer where the repository resides.
  2. Expand Databases.
  3. Select GPO_Repository.
  4. From the Action menu, click All Tasks > Restore Database...
  5. Restore the file to the GPO_Repository.
