cause

When you install Group Policy Guardian (GPG) in Trial mode, the GPG console machine must be a domain controller. When the GPG installer attempts to check auditing of the Sysvol and policies folder, the installer is looking for a local path (e.g., C:\....) to a domain controller rather than a network path. If the local computer is not a domain controller, the prereq checker fails.

fix

Use one of the following solutions:

• Install GPG in Production mode in a test lab using your purchased production license.
• Install GPG in Trial mode on a domain controller in the test lab.
