Resolution

fact
NetIQ Vulnerability Manager 5.5

symptom
Delta reporting not correct when endpoint property is modified.

symptom
When I change a property value, such as importance, of a computer, Vulnerability Manager treats it like there are two computers.

symptom
My delta report says that all data is different, but I only changed one property.

cause

When a check is run against an endpoint and the same check is run against the same endpoint after certain properties (ex: importance) of the endpoints are modified, the delta report treats it as two different endpoints, thus indicating that all the data is different even though they are the same.  If the modified property is changed back to original values and the check is run again, the delta report treats it as same endpoint.

NetIQ Technical Support has determined that is an issue with delta reporting in NetIQ Vulnerability Manager 5.5 and has included a fix in Service Pack 1.

fix

Download and install NetIQ Vulnerability Manager 5.5 SP1 from the NetIQ Vulnerability Manager support web site at https://www.netiq.com/support/vsm/.
