symptom
I get a 'no such object' error when I run a Security Checkup Report.

symptom
When I try to run a report, VM says that the endpoint doesn't exist.

symptom
Error: 'Agent Type = 827, endpoint type = .error: no such object'

cause
The encryption keys used by both the agent and the Vulnerability Manager console are out of sync.

fix

Delete all attached endpoints, the agent, and the managed system and then register a new agent.

To delete attached endpoints:

  1. Open NetIQ Vulnerability Manager.
  2. Ensure you are viewing the asset map in Advanced mode.
  3. Expand IT Assets > Agents > OS > UNIX.
  4. Select the appropriate agent in the content pane.
  5. SHIFT-click to select all endpoints listed for the specific agent.
  6. Right-click the selected endpoints and select Delete.
  7. Click Yes on the confirmation message.

To delete the agent:

  1. Select the agent you want to delete.
  2. On the Actions menu, click Delete.
  3. Click Yes on the confirmation message.

To delete the managed system:

  1. In the left pane, click Managed Systems.
  2. Select the system you want to delete.
  3. On the Actions menu, click Delete.
  4. Click Yes on the confirmation message.

To register a new agent and start managing the system:

  1. In the left pane, click Discovered Systems to see a list of all detected systems.
  2. Select the system you want to manage.
  3. On the Actions menu, click Manage System.
  4. Type the host name and IP address in the appropriate Value fields and enter any additional information as needed.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Select Use local agent already installed on this system.
  7. Type the IP port number into the appropriate Value field.
  8. Click Next.
  9. If you want to add the system to a specific group, select the Add endpoint to group check box and select the group from the Available Groups list.
  10. Click Finish.
