fix

The Files Needing Reorganization report in PSAudit allows you to report on libraries with physical files that are disorganized. Reorganizing a file purges all deleted records. This report identifies files that exceed the specified percentage of disorganization or number of deleted records per file threshold.

If you set the Submit Reorg field of the PSAudit Submittal Window to Y, then a batch job is created for each file listed in the report. These batch jobs purge all deleted records from the specified files.

To reorganize files on your iSeries server:

  1. From the Product Access Main Menu, type 1 (PSAudit) and press Enter.
  2. Type 1 (System Auditing and Reporting) and press Enter.
  3. Type 3 (File/Member Reports Menu) and press Enter.
  4. Type 1 (Files Needing Reorganization) and press Enter.
  5. In the Percent or Deleted Rec field, specify the percentage of the file that is disorganized or the number of the deleted records per file threshold.
  6. To purge the deleted records in the specified files, type Y in the Submit Reorg field.
  7. If you have not pre-loaded the database or if you want to reload the database, type Y in the Reload database before field.
  8. Press Enter.

note
Consult with thrid party vendors before reorganizing files in a software package. Some packages base processing on the relative record numbers (RRN) of files instead of on file keys.
