symptom
When I register the Unix agent during manual installation, the host entry in VM uses the FQHN.

symptom
Long computer name displayed instead of specific name.

symptom
Manual installation results in fully qualified host name registration.

cause

When you manually install VSAU, the core services IP address and port are specified. These entries use the fully qualified host name (FQHN), resulting in an entry inside VM using the FQHN.

fix

To avoid having the FQHN registered, do not specify the core services IP address when installing manually. Without the core services location, the installation program will not register the computer.

If the agent is already registered using the FQHN, but you want the short name, remove the agent from VM and add it using the short name.
