To install the VigilEnt Security Agent for Unix manually:

  1. Put the files install.sh, setup.tar, and vsau{OS}.taz from the install image or CD into a directory on the Unix system. If you use FTP, transfer the .tar and .taz files in binary mode and transfer the install.sh in ASCII mode.  The install will fail if the mode is incorrect.
  2. Enter chmod 500 install.sh to make install.sh executable.
  3. Ensure that all files are owned by root user.
  4. Enter ./install.sh.
