Situation

All newly deployed jobs remain in a pending start state.

Cannot get IP list for computer.

Error: 'CMSComm::Send (startjob): failed to get rpc version for machine.'

Resolution

The management server resolves agent NetBIOS names across the network. Investigate your network name resolution, your DNS, for stale records or connectivity to resolve NetBIOS names of managed clients to the correct IP addressess

Cause

NetBIOS name resolution is no longer functioning correctly, so the management server could not resolve the NetBIOS names of managed clients to the correct IP addresses.
