Resolution

fact

VigilEnt Security Agent for Unix 5.x

symptom
Unix Manager shows a computer in purple.

symptom
A host is an odd color.

cause

Purple indicates that the uagent port is in use, but the Agent Manager was unable to communicate with the agent using this port. The inability to communicate can be caused by an unsupported OS distribution.

fix

To troubleshoot the issue:

  1. Restart the uagent process then retry the connection.
  2. If the problem remains, verify the port can be contacted.  From the Unix Manager workstation open a command prompt:     telnet  {IP_address}:2620
  3. If the connection works, verify the status of port 2620.  From the Unix OS back to the Unix Manager machine:   telnet  {IP_address_of_Unix_Manager}:1626
