NetIQ Analysis Center 2.x

Situation

Error: 'Unable to open Connection.txt'
Analysis Center component installation fails.
Error when installing the Analysis Center Data Warehouse.

Resolution

To install the Analysis Center Data Warehouse, log on using an account that has either of the following permissions:

  • Local administrative rights to the computer you are installing

  • Read\Write access to the .\Windows\TEMP folder (and other temp folders)

In addition, verify the following registry key value on the targeted Data Warehouse server is set to 0:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem\NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation

If this is set to 1, the install will fail with 'Unable to open Connection.txt'... Connection.txt is more than 8 characters long. 

NOTE: Changing the registry value requires a server reboot to take full effect.



Cause

The logon account used to install Analysis Center does not have local admin rights to a temporary folder.
