During the GUI only installation, the prerequisite checker incorrectly indicates that SQL Server 2000 is required.

fix

SQL Server 2000 is not required. Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 is the correct requirement. 

  1. Select Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1
  2. Click on setup to install.
