How can I make the Migrate data using modeling database as a source option unavailable after I import the modeling data?

fix

To disable the Migrate data using modeling database as source option after you import the modeling data:

  1. Open the project database in Access. By default, DMA stores project databases in the C:\Program Files\NetIQ\DMA\Projects folder as projectname.mdb.
  2. Under Objects, select Tables.
  3. In the right pane, double-click Settings to open the table.
  4. In the property column, locate Options.WizardInternal.isImported and set the value to No.

If you are migrating both user accounts and groups in a DMA project, to run later migrations from this project, you must reset this value to Yes allow DMA to use the modeling information.

note

When migrating Windows XP or Windows 2000 or later computers, using the Migrate Data using modeling data as a source option can potentially cause problems. Windows 2000 and later computers cannot be migrated and renamed in the same step. When you use this option, DMA may try to rename the computer, in which case it cannot also migrate the computer.

For more information about migrating and renaming Windows 2000 or later and Windows XP computers, see the following Knowledge Base article:

When using Data Modeling to rename and migrate computers at the same time, Windows 2000 / XP machines are only renamed and not migrated.

NETIQKB5933 may also be useful as a workaround for a project that contains modeled users and groups.
