Situation

How can I verify that a User Profile has a password of *NONE?

Resolution

Using profile PSOBJOWN as an example, and presuming you have a file named DSPUSRPRF in library QGPL, use the following commands as a guide to match them with your environment parameters.

  1. DSPUSRPRF USRPRF(PSOBJOWN) OUTPUT(*OUTFILE) OUTFILE(QGPL/DSPUSRPRF)
  2. DBA FILE(QGPL/DSPUSRPRF).  This would display your profile PSOBJOWN to an outfile.
  3. Use DBA to display the file.
  4. Press F11 to view the various field names.

Additional Information

Formerly known as NETIQKB46140

If you use the CHGUSRPRF command, it shows the value as *SAME, which is normal for the IBM command.  It does not display the actual value.
