Resolution

fact
Security Manager 5.1

fact
Security Manager 5.5

symptom
After running the configuration wizard for Log Manager, the Trend Analysis computer setting still shows none.

symptom
Receiving both a warning and a success alert when the OLAP service does not have permission to access the OnePoint database.

symptom
Receiving event 31535 and 31032 when the OLAP service is not set to the Security Manager service account.

cause

For SM 5.1 -

The success alert is being sent as part of the attempt to initialize the OLAP cube. The alert should not be sent at the same time as this warning. The user will think everything is ok even though the Trend Analysis Server is still set to NONE and/or the  MSSQLServerOLAPService is not set to run using an account that has access to the OnePoint database.

WARNING alert - Event ID 31535
Log Manager failed to initialize Trend Analysis cube processing because the service account used by Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services does not have permission to access the database server.

SUCCESS alert - Event ID 31032
Successfully initialized the trend analysis data for Security Manager on this server

For SM 5.5 -

If the MSSQLServerOLAPService is not set to run using an account that has access to the OnePoint database, then the cube initialization will fail and no message will be displayed.

fix

For SM 5.1 - The SUCCESS alert received after the WARNING alert should be ignored when first trying to configure the Trend Analysis Server when the MSSQLServerOLAPService is configured incorrectly.

For SM 5.1 and 5.5 - Correct the MSSQLServerOLAPService to start using an account that has access to the OnePoint database.  Run the configuration wizard and specify the Trend Analysis computer again.  After the configuration has been applied, you will get a SUCCESS alert.
