Error occurs when modifying or viewing GPOs (Group Policy Objects)

cause
Older versions of the Group Policy editor cannot interpret some string types that include more than 255 characters. 

fix

Microsoft hotfix 842933 corrects this issue. Download and install the hotfix from Microsoft TechNet at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=842933.
