Environment

NetIQ AppManager 6.x
NetIQ AppManager 7.0.x
SNMP Toolkit 1.0

Situation

How do I cache SNMP Values between job iterations?

Resolution

The only SNMP Values cached across job iterations are those used to perform Delta calculations. The value from the previous job iteration must be saved so that it can be subtracted from the new value. Otherwise, SNMP Generic Toolkit Scripts are stateless in the sense that they retain no knowledge data and errors retrieved on previous iterations.

Important: it should be noted that SNMP Tables are retrieved each time the SyncGetTable and SyncPollTable knowledge scripts are executed, and disposed of once execution of the current job iteration is complete. This is an advantage in the sense that the scripts automatically detect changes to a table, but is a disadvantage in the sense that a burst of SNMP network traffic is required at each job iteration to retrieve the table.
