Resolution

fact
Directory and Resource Administrator 7.0 SP1

symptom
Home directory is not being deleted if the 'HomeShareCreate' post task trigger fails.

symptom
Home directory is created with an orphan SID for the 'home directory owner' when creating a new user that has a SamAccountName matching an existing home directory.

cause
The cause is the undo logic of the HomeShareCreate trigger is not being called.

fix

This issue is addressed in NetIQ Directory and Resource Administrator and Exchange Administrator version 7.0 SP1 Hotfix 43722.

Hotfix 43722 corrects an issue with home directory management and triggers.  When a post task trigger fails, Directory and Resource Administrator (DRA) did not delete the home directory created during trigger processing.  This hotfix corrects this issue and ensures DRA deletes the home directory.

Note: This Hotfix requires DRA version 7.0 SP1.

To download and install this hotfix:

  1. Run the DRA70001_Hotfix43722.msi file on each of your Administration servers.

This hotfix modifies the McsHomeShareTriggers.dll file on Administration server computers. By default, this file is located in the Program Files\NetIQ\DRA folder.
