Environment

NetIQ AppManager 6.0
NetIQ AppManager 7.0.x
SNMP Generic Toolkit 1.0

Situation

How are 'SNMP String Values' mapped to 'SNMP Data points'?

Resolution

As strings are not numeric values, they cannot be stored in the AppManager Repository as collected data. However, if a string comparison threshold has been selected, a Boolean data point can be collected indicating whether the threshold was violated. The SNMP Generic Toolkit considers SNMP OCTET STRING, IPADDRESS and OBJECTID to be string values.
