Exchange Migrator closes when selecting several thousand public folders.

Exchange Migrator shuts down or fails when multiple public folders have been selected.

cause

Exchange Migrator will close when attempting to enumerate more than 3,800 sub-folders.

fix

To workaround this issue, you will need to implement a registry key to enable Exchange Migrator to use the DAPI method for public folder selection instead of the current MAPI method.

1. Close Exchange Migrator.
2. Backup the registry on the Exchange Migrator machine.
3. Using the Microsoft Registry Editor (regedit), navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\NetIQ\ExchangeMigrator.
4. Create the registry key [REG_DWORD]DisableMAPIPFSelect with a value of 1.
5. Close the registry and open Exchange Migrator to perform the public folder selection.
