Situation

What causes excessive 'file version change' and 'Active Directory version change' events?

How do I view a GPO without logging 'file version change' and 'Active Directory version change' events?

Resolution

When you are finished viewing a GPO in GPedit, click Cancel.

In GPG 2.0, modify the report filter to show GPO change events and to not show Active Directory and File Revision changes.

Cause

If you open GPedit to view a GPO's settings, make no changes, and click Apply or OK instead of Cancel, GPG updates the GPO file version and logs these events.
