NetIQ AppManager 6.x
NetIQ AppManager 7.0.x

Situation

How do I un-install a Secondary Management Server from my AppManager enviroment?

Resolution

Below are recommended steps to removing a Secondary Management Server (MS) from your environment:

  1. Use the AMADMIN_SetPrimaryMS Knowledge Script (KS) to update your agents with a new Primary and/or Secondary MS.  You can also use this KS to assign a (new) MS or to clear the Secondary MS from existing Agents.
  2. Verify your Agent jobs are completing successfully and no MS communication/reporting errors/events are appearing.
  3. Stop the NetIQ AppManager Management Service and other services on the Server you plan to un-install the AppManager MS.
  4. Use Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs to perform the un-installation of NetIQ AppManager.

Please reference the AppManager Installation Guide, "Appendix C" for more information.

Additional Information

Formerly known as NETIQKB42463

Un-installing any component from an AppManager 6.0.x system, will cause all AppManager 6.0.x components to be un-installed from that system.  To monitor a server where you have un-installed the NetIQ AppManager Management Service, you will have to re-install an AppManager Agent, and rediscover the components on that server as an Agent.

For AppManager 7.0.x computers, teh Management Server can be un-installed through Add & Remove Programs, without affecting the Agent or other AppManager components.
