Problem running Reportlet (Browser) in Italian version of OS/400.

cause

PSE111C issues command  JAVA CLASS(*VERSION)

This returns the following in an English version of the O/S :

Version JVM V5R1M0 JDK 1.3.1.

Our program tries to read from character 9 to 12, which in this case is 'JVM'

 

The Italian version returns the following :

Versione JVM V5R2M0 JDK 1.3.1.

And char 9 to 12 reads ' JV'

 

This causes the program to loop.



fix

As a workaround, change  the text for  Message ID  JVAB52C in message file QJVAMSGF  to from versione to version.  It cannot be changed back after the install as every time REPORTLET runs it reads this. To do so: 

  1. WRKMSGD MSGID(JVAB52C) MSGF(QJVAMSGF).
  2. Option 2 to change message ......replace versione with version.
