fix
The following Microsoft article details how to add additional custom registry settings that will be available in GPEdit:
- Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 214752: How to Add Custom Registry Settings to Security Configuration Editor
These custom settings are captured with GPStudio. The configuration file does not include these settings, however, so they are not displayed in the GPO Reports. The short term solution is to edit the faCfgMSec.xml file under C:\Program Files\NetIQ\Group Policy Administrator 4.0\Bin\XML\OSConfigs\Windows 2003 (or Windows XP or Windows 2000) to include the additional custom settings.
The XML will require modifications under the section: <PSGpo Type> to include the additional settings.
Example:
<PSGpo Type ="1" FName ="\Machine\Microsoft\Windows NT\SecEdit\GptTmpl.inf" FSection="Registry Values">
<PSGps TblName = "fa_gps_msec_registryvalues"></PSGps>
section (PSItem with Order 70 through 97).
Note: This is a short term solution to the issue. As a long term solution there is an enhancement open to to automatically parse the %WINDIR%\inf\sceregvl.inf to get the display name for the registry path of these extended registry values that is stored in the GPO. This functionality has been added to GPA 5.0
