Resolution

fact
Directory and Resource Administrator 7.x

symptom

Error:  'The Evaluation Guide Active Directory Populator application has not been run.  Please exit this application and run the AD populator. Unable to bind to top level OU generated by AD Populator.  The name of the top level OU has been changed or the OU has been deleted since you ran AD Populator.' when running DRA Pop utility.

cause
This issue is due to the Organizational Unit (OU) path not being written to the EvalGuide.mdb database.

fix

There is a known issue of the AD Pop utility closing when trying to create mailboxes in Microsoft Exchange 2003.  If AD Pop terminates prematurely, the path to the OU container is not written to the EvalGuide.mdb database.  This results in there being no path in the EvalGuide.mdb database to reference when the DRA Pop utility is run.

To resolve, use either of the following:

  • Run the AD Pop utility selecting to not create mailboxes and then run DRA Pop Utility.  To create mailboxes for all the accounts use the workaround detailed in NETIQKB37395
  • Open EvalGuide.mdb in Access and edit the LastCaseRun table. Manually enter the LDAP path and then run DRA Pop.
