Environment

NetIQ AppManager 6.x
NetIQ AppManager 7.0.x

Situation

General_MachineDown' Knowledge Script does not work on an Agent machine which is across a firewall.

Resolution

To resolve this issue verify that TCP port 135 (RPC) is open in order to communicate with the Agent system across the firewall.  The General_MachineDown Knowledge Script attempts to connect to the Registy on the remote machine over port 135.  Verify the following information to ensure that the KS works properly:

  • TCP port 135 (RPC) is opened on the firewall.
  • Remote Registry Service is running on the Agent machine.
  • Service Account being used on the Agent machine has Local Administrator privileges on the system.

Cause

The General_MachineDown Knowledge Script may not work on an Agent machine across the firewall if Port 135 is blocked or if the account does not have sufficient permissions.
