symptom
Reports run against VigilEnt Security Agents for Sybase, Oracle, SQL, WebServers, Netware, or iSeries not returning.

cause
The problem occurs when NetIQ Vulnerability Manager 5.0 is on an Hewlett Packard Laptop (Compaq nw8000) that has a 1394 Net Adapter Bridge Connection enabled.  The iSeries agent is passed the IP address of the bridge adapter and not the IP address of the NIC.

fix

On the NetIQ  Vulnerability Manager machine:

  1. Go to IT Assets | Agents | OS. 
  2. Right-click on the iSeries agent and choose Properties. 
  3. In the Core IP Address  field, set the Core IP Address to the IP address of your NIC.

Another option is to disable the Net Adapter Bridge Connection.
