Error: 'Cannot open database requested in login 'GPO_REPOSITORY'. Login fails' appears in Application Log.

The following event is written to the Application Log on the Group Policy Administrator Server:

cause
The notification account does not have access to the Repository, or the password of this account has been changed.

fix

To address this issue: 

  1. On the Group Policy Administrator (GPA) Server machine, open Administrative Tools | Component Services.
  2. Expand Component Services | Computers | My Computer.
  3. Expand COM+ Applications.
  4. Right-click on GPR Server and select Properties.
  5. Select Identity tab.
  6. Enter a username and password that has Full access to the Repository Database.
  7. Select Apply and OK.
  8. Select GPR Server in the right pane.
  9. On the Action menu, click Shutdown.
  10. Select GPR Server in the right pane.
  11. On the Action menu, click Start.
