Resolution

goal
Does the NetIQ DRA Agent direct the DRA clients to the correct server depending on the version of the client?

goal
Is the NetIQ DRA Agent service version aware and able to direct DRA client to the correct DRA server based on the version of the client?

fact
Directory and Resource Administrator 6.60

fact
Directory and Resource Administrator 7.0

fix
The NetIQ DRA Agent does not direct the Directory and Resource Administrator (DRA) client to the DRA server based on the version of the DRA client.  The NetIQ DRA Agent directs the DRA client to the DRA server in the same site.  If you are running multiple versions of the DRA server in the same Multi-Master Set, the DRA 6.x and DRA 7.0 servers are able to register successfully with the NetIQ DRA Agent on all the domain controllers.  However, the DRA 6.x MMC clients may be directed to a DRA 7.0 server and vice-versa; thus resulting in an error as the DRA 6.x client is unable to communicate with a DRA 7.0 server and vice-versa.

note

This issue is resolved in DRA 7.0 SP1.  DRA 7.0 SP1 modifies the NetIQ DRA Agent service to ensure that the Agent directs the DRA MMC 6.x client to a DRA 6.x server in the Multi-Master Set and a DRA 7.0 client to a DRA 7.0 server.  This will ensure that Assistant Admins using older versions of the DRA clients are connected to a DRA server running version 6.60 or earlier and do not receive an error.

The Service Pack 1 for DRA 7.0 is available for download from our website at

This issue is resolved in Directory and Resource Administrator (DRA) 7.0 SP1 and later. Upgrade to the latest version of DRA to resolve this problem.
