symptom
Error occurs when an Assistant Admin attempts to launch the Accounts and Resource Management console.

symptom
Error: 'The ARM file could not be deserialized: C:\file_path\file_name.arm.'

Assistant Admins may receive the following error message when they attempt to launch the Accounts and Resource Management console by clicking an ARM file, configured and provided by the Directory and Resource Administrator (DRA) Admin:

The ARM file could not be deserialized:
C:\file_path\file_name.arm



symptom
When an Assistant Admin clicks the ARM file saved by another user an error message indicating that the file could not be deserialized may be received.

cause
The above error message may occur if the Assistant Admin attempting to launch the Accounts and Resource Management (ARM) console does not have the correct permissions over the ARM file.

fix
To resolve this issue, please perform the following steps:

  1. Log in as a user account who is an Administrator on the machine on which the ARM console is being launched.
  2. Right-click the file_name.ARM file (saved ARM file) in Windows Explorer and select the Security tab.
  3. Click Add, and then select the Assistant Admin user account or the Everyone group and click Add.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Check the Allow check box, granting the user account Full Control over this file.

This issue is resolved in Directory and Resource Administrator (DRA) 7.5 and later. Upgrade to the latest version of DRA to resolve this issue.
