Resolution

fact
Directory and Resource Administrator 7.0

fact
Microsoft Windows 2003 Domain

symptom
Unable to change Group Type or Group Scope for a group in a Windows 2003 domain.

symptom
Group Scope and Group Type are grayed out.

symptom
Assistant Admins do not have the option to change the Group Type and\or Scope of groups in a Windows 2003 domain using Directory and Resource Administrator, however using Active Directory Users & Computers the Group Type and Scope can be changed.

cause
In Native mode domains, a group type can be converted at any time.  In mixed-mode domains, a group's type is fixed at the time of creation and cannot be changed.  However, if managing a Windows 2003 domain, Assistant Admins including DRA Admins, may not be able to change the group Type and\or Scope even though the same can be done using Active Directory Users & Computers. This is because Directory and Resource Administrator treats all Windows 2003 domains as Mixed-mode domains.

fix
This problem has been identified by NetIQ and has been fixed in Service Pack 1 for Directory and Resource Administrator 7.0.
