Resolution

fact
Directory and Resource Administrator 7.x

symptom
Cloning an account with a Microsoft Exchange 5.5 mailbox generates warning W11915 in the application event log on the Administration server.

symptom

Cloning an account with a Microsoft Exchange 5.5 mailbox generates a Warning message, similar to the following in the application event log, on the Directory and Resource Administrator (DRA) server host.

Source:       MCSAdminSvc
Category:    [252]
Event ID:     14597
Type:           Warning

Description:
W11915: An error occurred while cloning mailbox (/o=xxx/ou=xxx/cn=Recipients/cn=_xxx_xxx, /o=xxx/ou=xxxx/cn=Recipients/cn=xxxxx): [DAPIWrite] The Assoc-NT-Account value domain_name\mailbox_name specified for mailbox mailbox_name could not be found.
(8000008d). Alternate means will be attempted.

symptom
Another error event is also seen in the application log, but not as often as the above warning event:

Source:       MCSAdminSvc
Category:    [252]
Event ID:     14594
Type:           Error

Description:
E21502: An error occurred while retrieving properties for mailbox '/o=xxx/ou=xxxxx/cn=Recipients/cn=xxxxxxx': [DAPIRead] Unable to find object /o=xxx/ou=xxxxx/cn=Recipients/cn=xxxxxxx.
(c000009f)

cause
Directory and Resource Administrator (DRA) is trying to associate an account with the mailbox, but the account has not replicated to all domain controllers yet.  Specifically, the account has not replicated to the domain controller that the Exchange server contacts to associate the account.

fix

This is the expected behavior.  DRA 7.0 now selects an Exchange server per site to do write operation against.  Therefore, the domain controller that an Exchange server is referencing may not be the same domain controller that DRA is writing to.  DRA is able to detect this condition and associate the account by looking up the SID on the domain controller where the account exists.  DRA logs the event to show that this has occured.

In DRA 7.5 the notification has been changed from an error to a warning, and the warning message to information.
