Situation

The Group Policy Guardian components are not showing up in the Security Manager Monitor or Development consoles after installation.

Resolution


In Group Policy Guardian (GPG) 1.6 and above, the central GPG components are not as tightly integrated with Security Manager as in previous versions.  Because of this, it is necessary to install the Security Manager Connector separately from the main GPG installation..

To install the connector, perform the following steps in GPG 1.6:

  1. From the Group Policy Guardian installation media, launch Setup.exe.  The installer page is displayed.
  2. Click on the tab labeled 'Additional Setup'.
  3. Click the Group Policy Guardian Security Manager Connector Setup link to begin the connector installation.

In version of GPG 2.0 and above, the Security Manager connector is delivered as a raw module instead of an MSI installation package.  The steps to apply the module are detailed in the GPG 2.x documentation.



Cause

The Security Manager Connector component is not installed.
