symptom
Objects from an NT 4 domain disappear after a Domain Cache Refresh.

symptom

WARNING: 'The domain domain_name was unavailable when DRA last refreshed its domain cache. You may experience problems when searching or updating accounts in this domain' when launching any UI.

symptom

The following message is written to the Application Event Log on the Directory and Resource Administrator (DRA) server

WARNING: The domain domain_name was unavailable when DRA last refreshed its domain cache. You may experience problems when searching or updating accounts in this domain' when launching any UI.

symptom
Objects from an NT 4 domain can no longer be managed using Directory and Resource Administrator.  After the Domain Cache Refresh occurs no objects from the domain are displayed.

cause
The cause of this issue is due to flags that are used for the Domain Cache Refresh conflict if the DRA server is a member of an NT4 domain that is being managed.

fix

This issue is addressed in NetIQ Directory and Resource Administrator and Exchange Administrator version 7.0 Hotfix 36396.

Hotfix 36396 corrects a domain cache refresh error when the Administration server is also a member of a Windows NT 4 domain being managed.

Note: This hotfix requires DRA version 7.0.

To download and install this hotfix:

  1. Run the DRA70000_Hotfix36396.msi file on each Administration server that is also a member of a managed Windows NT 4 domain in your environment.

This hotfix modifies the following files on the Administration server computers:

  • DcLibDynamic70.dll
  • DcUtil.exe files

By default, these files are located in the Program Files\NetIQ\DRA folder.
