Use the instructions below to turn logging on and off:
  1. Click Start | Run and type Regedit.
  2. In the registry go to:  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\NetIQ\VigilEnt\Agent.
  3. Right-click in the right pane and select Add a DWORD value.
  4. Name the registry key "logLevel" and set the value to 4 hexidecimal.
  5. For Windows 2000:  
     
    1. Go to Start | Settings | Control Panel | Administrative tools | Services and locate the NetIQ VigilEnt Agent service. 
    2. Right-click the Service and select Restart.
  6. For Windows NT:   
    1. Go to Start | Settings | Control Panel | Services and locate the NetIQ VigilEnt Agent service. 
    2. Right-click the Service and select Restart.
  7. Once this is done recreate the issue that needs to be captured in the log.
  8. Go to Program files | Pentasafe | Agent | log and locate the VigilentAgent_2005.log, this is the log created by the NetIQ VigilEnt Agent.
  9. Return your system settings back to their original state by going back to the registry (using step 1) to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\NetIQ\VigilEnt\Agent and delete the logLevel value.
  10. Restart the NetIQ VigilEnt Agent service using Step 5 above.
