Use the instructions below to turn logging on and off:
- Click Start | Run and type Regedit.
- In the registry go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\NetIQ\VigilEnt\Agent.
- Right-click in the right pane and select Add a DWORD value.
- Name the registry key "logLevel" and set the value to 4 hexidecimal.
- For Windows 2000:
- Go to Start | Settings | Control Panel | Administrative tools | Services and locate the NetIQ VigilEnt Agent service.
- Right-click the Service and select Restart.
- For Windows NT:
- Go to Start | Settings | Control Panel | Services and locate the NetIQ VigilEnt Agent service.
- Right-click the Service and select Restart.
- Once this is done recreate the issue that needs to be captured in the log.
- Go to Program files | Pentasafe | Agent | log and locate the VigilentAgent_2005.log, this is the log created by the NetIQ VigilEnt Agent.
- Return your system settings back to their original state by going back to the registry (using step 1) to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\NetIQ\VigilEnt\Agent and delete the logLevel value.
- Restart the NetIQ VigilEnt Agent service using Step 5 above.
