There are two methods to determine the version of the Agent you are running.  Please refer to the following instructions:

Using the Registry:

  1. Locate the machine where the VigilEnt Security Agent for Windows is installed.
  2. Click Start | Run and type Regedit .
  3. Go to the following location:  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Pentasafe\VSANT.
  4. In the right hand pane, locate the Version registry value. The Data column will indicate the version of the VigilEnt Security Agent for Windows.

OR

By using the Event Viewer:

For Windows 2000

  1. Click Start | Settings | Control Panel | Administrative tools and select Services from the list.
  2. Within Services locate the 'VigilEnt Security Agent for Windows' service and right-click the service.
  3. Select Restart to restart the service and close the 'Services' window.
  4. Click Start | Settings | Control Panel | Administrative tools and select the Event Viewer from the list.
  5. In the left hand tree pane of the Event Viewer, select the Application Log.
  6. Select the Date column to sort by the current date in the list.
  7. Locate the latest event ID 4097 for the VigilEnt Security Agent for Windows, select the event and open it.
  8. Depending on the version installed, the contents will read:

    PentaSafe VigilEnt Security Agent for Windows version x.x.xxxx started.  

    or  

    NetIQ VigilEnt Security Agent for Windows Version x.x.x.xx started.

 

For Windows NT

  1. Click Start | Settings | Control Panel and select Services from the list.
  2. Within Services, locate the 'VigilEnt Security Agent for Windows' service and right-click the service.
  3. Select Restart to restart the service and close the 'Services' window.
  4. Click Start | Settings | Control Panel | and select the Event Viewer from the list.
