symptom
An error is received during local and remote installation.

Error: '\\servername\C$\path can't be found'.

cause
This issue is caused when the target machine for installation does not have an administrative share on it.

fix

To resolve this issue, create an administrative share on the target machine.  For more information on creating administrative shares, please refer to the Microsoft web link below.



note
The administrative share requirement is needed for both local and remote installations.
