How do I manually configure ports?

fact
VigilEnt Security Agent for Windows 4.0

fix

There are 3 different ports that can be configured in 4 different places:

First click Start | Run and type regedit, then use one of the processes below.

  • The following registry setting is the port used by the common agent to receive a request from VSM:  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NetIQ\VigilEnt\agent\vigilent_adapter\vss_port.  The default value is 1622. This port has to be opened by the firewall.

  • The following registry setting is the port used by the Java Agent to receive a request from the common agent: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PENTASAFE\VSANT\AgentPort.  The default value is 1722. The common agent has to know which port to use to forward a request to the Java Agent. The common agent does not use the registry setting for this port. The port number is defined in the common agent port database. The common agent provides the 'vadbcfg.exe' to change this port.

  • The following registry setting is the port used by the common agent to receive a report from the Java Agent: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NetIQ\VigilEnt\agent\vigilent_adapter\ legacy_port.  The default value is 1822.
