Error: "500 java.lang.NullPointerException."

symptom
Error occurs when logging into the VigilEnt Web Center.

cause
The error indicates the vwc.properties file is missing. This file should be located in the following location, by default:

<install_dir>\VigilEnt Web Center\server

fix

Right click the vwc.properties file and select the Properties menu item. The Read-only attribute (in the pop-up window) should not have a check in the box. This will allow it to be written to by VigilEnt Web Center. By the same token the directory should have privileges set so that VigilEnt Web Center can write to the vwc.properties file in that directory.
