fix

By default, VigilEnt Security Manager (VSM) uses Microsoft Windows NT authentication to verify your user name and password. When using Microsoft Windows NT authentication, the database checks with the Windows domain controller to see if the user ID and password you used to log in to the machine are allowed to use the database. You can also use SQL authentication. Using SQL Authentication for Login. SQL authentication creates a user ID and password that are good only for the SQL Server.

To enable SQL Authentication:

  1. On the Core services machine, Click Start|Programs|VigilEnt Security Manager|VigilEnt Security Manager Configuration Utility.
  2. Select the Settings tab, change the value of the Enable SQLAuthentication field to True. Click Apply.
  3. Exit the VigilEnt Security Manager Configuration Utility.
  4. Click Start|Programs|VigilEnt Security Manager|VigilEnt Security Manager Options.
  5. Select the Other tab, place a check in the Enable SQL authentication on login box. Click Apply.
  6. Exit VigilEnt Security Manager Options.
  7. Log in to VigilEnt Security Manager, select Use SQL Authentication.

note
For SQL authentication to work, the database must be set up in mixed-mode security.
