fix

There are several options for encrypting network traffic between Microsoft SQL Server and VigilEnt Security Manager.

  • Multiprotocol Net-Library encryption ( Microsoft SQL Server 7.0; 40 or 128 bit encryption depending on OS )

  • IPSec encryption

  • Super Socket Net-Library encryption ( Uses SSL; Microsoft SQL Server 2000 only; 40 or 128 bit encryption depending on OS )

These encryption methods are Microsoft solutions for encrypting network traffic. If you elect not to incorporate one of these encryption methods, only the passwords for SQL Authentication users will be encrypted (Microsoft SQL Server 2000 only). All other data sent between VigilEnt Security Manager and the database is sent clear text.
