The VigilEnt Security Server service is returning an error when started.

symptom
Error: 'Service terminated unexpectedly.'

cause
The MSSQLService is not started.

fix

Verify that the MSSQLServer Service is started:

  1. Go to Start | Settings | Control Panel.

  2. For Microsoft Windows NT, select Services.
    For Microsoft Windows 2000 or XP, select Administrative Tools | Services.

  3. Right click MSSQLService and select Start.

  4. Then, right click the VigilEnt Core Services service or the VigilEnt Security Server service, and select Start.
