Error: "Run time error 13: Type mismatch" when logging into VigilEnt Security Manager.

cause

The VigilEnt Security Manager GUI requires the following date format MM/DD/YY to be used by VigilEnt.  If the format DD/MM/YY (which is the standard in Europe and elsewhere) is used this error will occur.



fix

Theworkaround for this issue (English Options annotated here and the German version listed below) :

  1. Click Start | Settings | Control Panel | Regional Options.
  2. Set 'Your Locale (location)' to English (United States) from the 'General' tab.
  3. Click the Date tab and make sure that one of the first four options for 'Short date format' is selected (M/d/yyyy or similar, as opposed to yy/MM/dd etc.).
