After installing VigilEnt Security Manager (VSM)  and VigilEnt Security Agent for Web Servers, you must register the web server that is running VigilEnt Security Agent for Web Servers with VSM.

  1. To make VigilEnt Security Agent for Web Server actions available from VSM, use Windows Explorer to navigate to the following file on the computer hosting VigilEnt Security Agent for Web Servers:
    install_folder\VSAforWebServers\manager\VSMUpdate\DBUpdate.exe
  2. Double-click the file to add action functionality to VSM.
  3. Start VSM.
  4. In the upper left panel of the VSM GUI, right-click Servers and select Add Server.
  5. Name-Type the fully qualified host name of the server. No two servers monitored by VSM in the same domain can have the same name.
  6. OS Type-Select theserver type.
  7. Major and Minor Version-Optional.  Select a major version and a minor version for the operating system.
  8. IP Address-This field automatically displays the IP address of the entered server name when you click Lookup. An IP address is required.
  9. Location-Optional. Type a description of the location of the computer hardware.
  10. Contact-Optional. Type the name of the contact person.
  11. Use-Optional. Select a server description.
  12. Notes-Optional. Type descriptive notes about the server.
  13. Click Add to submit the information to VSM.  VSM submits the information to the VigilEnt Database.
  14. Click the Agent tab.
  15. Agent Type-Select the security agent type that runs on the new server.
  16. IP Port-Type the IP port address that VSM uses to send requests to the agent. This is the port on the computer hosting the agent that communicates with VSM. The default agent IP Port is 1640.
  17. Agent Version-Optional. Type the version of the VigilEnt Security Agent running on the server.
  18. Click OK.
